Thanks for reading our weekly reports and we are very happy that many of you are sending in news stories for coverage. We read every single one of them and many are mentioned on our official Twitter handle: @Cloudways.

So, here is this week’s report and we hope you will send more interesting stories for the next week. Happy Reading!

Magic of Magento continues

Two weeks back, I reported the departure of Roy Rubin, COO of Magento Inc. But, he should be really proud of his project. This week, Imagine 2014, the flagship Magento event, took place in the sunny Las Vegas.

At the event, Roy revealed that Magento achieved twice the growth since Imagine 2013. He also mentioned many successes of Magento which can be read here.

Moreover, Mark Lavelle, SVP of Product and Strategy for eBay Enterprise, took the stage to announce the release of Magento Community Edition 1.9. Plus, he revealed a little more about Magento 2 product release cycle. You can read about this here.

Are Drupal and WordPress good enough for e-commerce?

While Magento is magnificent for e-commerce shops, we think it’s not made for everyone.

Over the years, we have seen other CMS platforms like WordPress and Drupal also being considered for hosting e-commerce stores. Here is a great article from Mark Tomich on Business2Community that compares Magento with WordPress and Drupal for hosting e-commerce stores.

Recently, Salman wrote on WordPress Showdown where we covered WooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads. However, it seems Chris Lema is a big fan of Woo. In his blog post, he tells why he filled his cart with WooCommerce extension worth 800 dollars.

Optimizing WordPress for Social Activities

By using Facebook Open Graph and Twitter Cards, you can gain a lot of visitors. Our very own Ahsan Parwez wrote this great tutorial on configuring these important social settings for WPExplorer.

WordCamp events are great social events which celebrate the spirit of WordPress. Waseem got this beautiful infographic developed to let everyone know about the WordCamp events happening over the next 10 weeks.

And, this brings us to the end of the Weekly Cloud Report. Keep sending us your stories as we love to read them. I leave you with this great round-up of WordCamp Miami 2014.
